At AXE, the industrial welder is a key player in metal fabrication. Working from drawings or technical diagrams, they assemble metal parts using a variety of welding processes to give life to the structures, machines and sub-assemblies used in our workshops and on our customers’ sites.

Main tasks :

  • Prepare and assemble metal parts according to drawings
  • Welding (TIG, MIG, MAG, as required)
  • Check weld conformity and detect any defects
  • Perform finishing operations (grinding, deburring, etc.)
  • Maintain and adjust your welding unit
  • Compliance with safety and quality standards

Recommended training / qualifications :

  • CAP Industrial boilermaking
  • Bac Pro Industrial boilermaking technician
  • Industrial welder vocational diploma
  • Specific welding qualifications (process-specific licenses)

The Welder’s FAQ!

Do I need a welding qualification?

No, but you do need to master one or more processes (TIG, MIG/MAG or ARC). AXE supports motivated candidates in obtaining qualifications if necessary.

What are the working hours?

At AXE, welders work shift work. Depending on the project, overtime may be available.

Is it a physical job?

He can be. Welders sometimes handle heavy parts and work in awkward positions. Adapted equipment and handling aids are available.

What equipment do we use on a daily basis?

The welder uses appropriate welding equipment (MIG/MAG, TIG, ARC), preparation tools (grinder, drill, flashlight) and personal protective equipment (welding mask, gloves, fireproof clothing, safety shoes, etc.).

Do you work alone or in a team?

The welder often works independently on his part, but remains in direct contact with the other trades in the workshop (Quality Technician…).

Is it possible to do a sandwich course in this job at AXE?

Exactly. AXE regularly takes on work-study students on CAP, Bac Pro or Titre professionnel welding courses. It’s an excellent introduction to the trade, and many of our work-study students are subsequently hired.
